The Importance of Vaccination Schedules for Children

Your child will receive their first vaccination in the hospital before they come home. After that, starting at about two months, childhood vaccinations in Anthem, AZ, will begin. Dr. David Yip of Angel Pediatrics will make sure that your child gets the suggested schedule of childhood vaccinations.

Throughout their childhood and even into their teens, your children will be on a regular schedule of vaccinations.  It is important your child gets this very vital protection from serious diseases. If you get behind, it has a domino effect, and you run the risk that your child will not be completely protected against some very serious conditions.

Vaccinations, when delivered on schedule, have proven to be so effective that some diseases have entirely or almost entirely disappeared. Smallpox is a good example of a disease that has been eliminated. Through a vigorous schedule of vaccinations in the United States, by the 1970s it was no longer necessary to vaccinate against this deadly and disfiguring disease.

Infant and toddler vaccinations

The rotavirus (a serious illness that causes diarrhea) vaccine is given in either a two-dose or a three-dose series. Hib is a serious infection that can result in an infection of the brain or spine, and it is recommended that all children get vaccinated against it before they are two years old.

You can opt to have your child given the RSV and Flu vaccine to protect them from these seasonal illnesses. They will also begin their vaccinations for illnesses like measles, mumps, and chickenpox. The polio vaccine should be given in four doses, three in infants and one in childhood ages 4-6.
